It’s not Christmas without a gingerbread man! This recipe is super easy and makes a great Christmas activity.
Prep Time: 20 Mins plus 1 hour for the dough to rest in the fridge
Cook Time: 10 – 15 Mins
Portions: 20 Gingerbread people
Ingredients
- 100g Butter
- 3 Tbsp Golden Syrup
- 100g Brown Sugar
- 1 Tsp Orange Extract
- 225g Plain Flour
- 1/2 Tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
- 1 Tbsp Ground Ginger
Method
- First take your butter, sugar, golden syrup and orange extract and heat together in a pan until all the sugar is dissolved and then put to one side
- In a separate bowl mix together your flour, Bicarbonate of Soda and ground ginger
- Now mix your dry ingredients into your wet and mix until it forms a dough
- Now roll your dough out to a large square shape (a large baking tray size) and put into the fridge for at least an hour
- Whiles your dough is in the fridge you can now pre heat your oven to 180C
- An hour has now passed so you can now cut your Gingerbread people out and put on a baking tray and cook for 10mins then let them cool and ice in any way you like
- Then enjoy for a cup of tea
