Gingerbread People

It’s not Christmas without a gingerbread man! This recipe is super easy and makes a great Christmas activity.

Prep Time: 20 Mins plus 1 hour for the dough to rest in the fridge

Cook Time: 10 – 15 Mins

Portions: 20 Gingerbread people


  • 100g Butter
  • 3 Tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 100g Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Orange Extract
  • 225g Plain Flour
  • 1/2 Tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Ginger


  1. First take your butter, sugar, golden syrup and orange extract and heat together in a pan until all the sugar is dissolved and then put to one side
  2. In a separate bowl mix together your flour, Bicarbonate of Soda and ground ginger
  3. Now mix your dry ingredients into your wet and mix until it forms a dough
  4. Now roll your dough out to a large square shape (a large baking tray size) and put into the fridge for at least an hour
  5. Whiles your dough is in the fridge you can now pre heat your oven to 180C
  6. An hour has now passed so you can now cut your Gingerbread people out and put on a baking tray and cook for 10mins then let them cool and ice in any way you like
  7. Then enjoy for a cup of tea
