Buttermilk Cheese Scones

If you like scones you will love these. They are so much lighter then a traditional scone and so easy to create and make a great snack or lunch time addition.

Cook Time:15 Minuets

Portions: 12 Small Scones

Ingredients

  • 225g Self Raising Flour
  • 50g Butter
  • 142ml Buttermilk
  • 50g Grated Cheese of your choice

Equipment you will need

  • Baking Tray and Grease proof paper
  • Large Bowl
  • Round cutter

Method

  1. First you need to preheat your oven to 200c and line your baking tray with grease proof paper
  2. Now you can make your dough
  3. First take your butter, salt and flour and rub together until it forms breadcrumbs. You can do this either by hand or with a food process, it up to you. You can now add your cheese and then your buttermilk a bit at a time until it forms a dough
  4. You can now roll your dough out to about 2cm thick and cut your scones out by pressing down on your cutter (do not twist your cutter). Once you have cut all your scones out put them on your baking tray and brush with milk and cook for 15 mins until they have risen and become golden brown
  5. You can now eat and enjoy.

Top Tip

  • Make sure when you are cutting your scone dough that you don’t twist your cutter just push it straight down as this will help to get an even raise
