Chicken, Leek and Gammon Pie

Everyone loves a pie right? And this one really hits the spot. This is so easy anyone can do it so give it a go for yourself.

Prep Time: 20 Mins – 30 Mins

Cook Time: 30 Mins

Portions: 2 people

Ingredients

Pie Filling

  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 Leek
  • 1 Large handful of Mushrooms
  • 1 Gammon ring
  • 1 Large Chicken Breast

White Sauce

  • 40g Butter
  • 40g Plain Flour
  • 1 Pint of Milk (Any Milk you like)

Pastry Topping

  • Ready Made Puff Pastry
  • Egg Wash

Equipment you will need

  • Chopping Board
  • Knife
  • Large Frying Pan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Sauce Pan
  • Pie Dish
  • Pastry Brush

Method

  1. First of all you need to preheat your frying pan on a medium heat as well as your oven to 180c
  2. Now you need to prepare your vegetables so take your onions and garlic and finally dice. Then take your leek and mushrooms and roughly chop into even size slices then put in your pan to cook for a few mins
  3. Whiles your veg are cooking cut your chicken and gammon into bite size pieces then add to your veg and continue to cook until your chicken is cooked this will take approximately 10 mins
  4. Now your chicken is cooking you can start to make your sauce. So take your butter and melt in your sauce pan then add your flour and cook out for a few mins then slowly add your milk a bit at a time until your sauce becomes thick and glossy
  5. Ok, now your pie filling and sauce are done you can add your sauce to filling then pour this into your pie dish
  6. Now take your ready made pastry and top your filling with it and brush with your egg wash and cook for 20 – 30 mins until your pastry is golden brown the enjoy
